New Torah - Mantle Design
Late in 2004 we commissioned the design of a new Torah scroll cover (mantle) by a (textile design) artist from Leeds - to complement the ‘new’ scroll - that we acquired during the year.
The mantle was completed during the summer of 2005, and was ‘unveiled’ during the Torah readings at our Rosh Hashanah service 2005. It is simply stunning! This photo shows the central area of the mantle:
